A batch of Utah youths enjoyed a golden opportunity Monday to meet an Olympic champion.

Park City's Ted Ligety, two-time Olympic gold medalist in alpine skiing, visited with kids attending a YMCA Summer Day Camp in Taylorsville.

Ligety — who finished first in the giant slalom at the Sochi Winter Games in Russia last February and captured the combined crown at Torino, Italy, in 2006 — was among a group of partners supporting the YMCA of Northern Utah, along with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, the National Winter Sports Education Foundation and Park City Mountain Resort.
