A man and woman remained in critical condition Friday, three days after their motorcycle crashed into a van in Midvale.

The accident occurred just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, near 900 East and Fort Union Boulevard (7100 South).

The motorcycle was eastbound on Fort Union Boulevard when the blue Toyota van made a left turn in front of it. The motorcycle was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.

Neither of the victims was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, UHP said.

The accident was under investigation, but speed was not believed a factor. Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said charges would be screened at the conclusion of the investigation, expected to take a couple weeks.

The names of the victims — the male was 30 years old, the female 29 — have not been released.

The woman was in very critical condition. The man was critical but stable, Hoyal said on Friday.
