Mormon Tabernacle Choir to play big part in movie filming this fall

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir is going to have a major role in an upcoming movie.

The inspirational film, called "Singing With Angels,' is slated to begin production this fall. It's being made by Silver Peak Productions, and will be distributed in 2015 by Candlelight Media Group, a Utah-based distributor whose titles include the popular LDS romance "Charly."

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir has been in documentaries and feature films and TV shows before, but this movie — about a woman striving to join the choir — is the first time a the choir has been "integrated significantly" in the story.

The movie will be directed by Brian Brough and written by his sister, Brittany Wiscombe, who have collaborated on such Utah-filmed movies as "Christmas Angel" and "Scents and Sensibility." (Their next film, the LDS historical drama "16 Stones," is set for release this fall.)

The movie will be shot on location at Temple Square, and in the Tabernacle there, in Salt Lake City — as well as other sites in Utah. Auditions will take place soon; go to Candlelight's website for information.
