USU players on award watch lists

Utah State players continue to pepper the preseason award lists with linebackers Kyler Fackrell and Zach Vigil being named to the Rotary Lombardi Award watch list, it was announced on Monday. Fackrell, a 6-foot-5, 245-pound junior out of Mesa, Ariz., was named an honorable mention sophomore All-American by College Football News last year after he finished the season leading the team with 13 tackles for a loss and was second with five sacks. Fackrell is also on the watch list for the College Football Performance Awards Linebacker of the Year, the Bednarik watch list, the Bronko Nagurski watch list and the Butkus award watch list. Vigil, a 6-foot-2, 232-pound senior from Clearfield, was a second-team all-Mountain West pick last year when he ranked second on the team with 8.9 tackles per game. Vigil is also on the College Football Performance Awards watch list. In addition, kicker Nick Diaz was named to the College Football Performance Awards placekicker of the Year watch list. The senior earned honorable mention all-Mountain West honors as a junior, converting 51-of-52 extra points and going 17-of-23 in field goal attempts.
