This week's Utah Crowd-Funding project is far out.

Cosmic rock band Intra-Venus & the Cosmonauts, from Springville, is embarking on recording its first album, and has lined up David J — a member of pioneering bands Bauhaus and Love & Rockets — to produce. (Get a taste of the band's music by clicking on the video above.)

The band has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $12,000 to produce its album. So far, the band has $1,946 in pledges, with a deadline of Aug. 8.

Benefits for backers range from a digital download of the finished LP (for $10) to a day in the studio with David J and the band (for $1,000). The reward for a $500 pledge is particularly intriguing: A collection of autographed David J memorabilia — including the NASA-logo T-shirt he wore on Love & Rockets' 1996 tour .
