A man shot by police last week in West Jordan has been released from the hospital and booked into the Salt Lake County jail.

Timothy James Peterson, 31, was shot by an officer early Thursday at the Jordan Landing shopping complex after the officer recognized Peterson as someone who was wanted on warrants and had previously threatened police, the West Jordan police department has reported.

Peterson was booked Monday on those warrants; he is suspected of drug and traffic violations.

Police have released no more details as to what led up to the shooting. Peterson was with another man near the Office Max store at 7037 Plaza Drive when the officer approached. Peterson ran, and the officer chased him. The officer fired more than one shot, striking Peterson.

Investigators have refused to discuss further details of Peterson's behavior before he was shot; they have said weapons were found at the scene but would not say what those weapons were or whether they were used by Peterson.
