Salt Lake City police say a lover scorned used a knife to end a fight with his romantic successor. That put the jilted ex-boyfriend in jail and the new beau in the hospital.
SLCPD Detective Cody Lougy said officers responded to a 12:13 a.m. Wednesday 911 call near 800 South and Jeremy Street (900 West), where they found the two men fighting in the street.
As police arrived, one of the men ran, leaving the victim at the scene and bleeding from his side.
Witnesses told officers the two men had been fighting over the affections of a woman.
Police eventually found the 23-year-old suspect hiding nearby and arrested him without further incident.
The 24-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries, ranging from stab wounds to the arm, a leg and stomach, that were not life-threatening.
The suspect was being held in lieu of $1,500 bail on suspicion of second-degree felony aggravated assault and class B misdemeanor battery.
