A 30-year-old man, injured in a July 8 motorcycle crash in Midvale that killed his female passenger, has been upgraded to serious condition and is expected to survive.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal confirmed that the woman, identified as Amanda Ginther, 28, most recently of Ohio, had died on July 11. She had been on life support and very critical condition following the crash near 900 East and Fort Union Boulevard (7100 South).
The motorcycle was eastbound on Fort Union Boulevard when the blue Toyota van made a left turn in front of it. The motorcycle was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
Neither of the victims was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, UPD said.
The accident was under investigation.
Hoyal said the man's name had not yet been released.
