Colorado Springs • The Mountain West Conference has announced a format change for its 2015 men's basketball tournament in Las Vegas.

Because San Jose State has been ruled ineligible for the postseason due to poor APR scores, only 10 teams will participate in the tournament, scheduled March 11-14 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Under the updated format, the Nos. 1-6 seed will receive automatic bids into the quarterfinals. The opening round games will match the No. 7 seed against the No. 10 seed and the No. 8 seed against the No. 9 seed.

The tournament championship game will be played March 14 at 5 p.m. MST. The winner receives the Mountain West's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
