Rain, wind and lightning may be storming across Utah throughout the day.

Showers and thunderstorms, with strong gusty winds and lightning, are expected for much of Utah Sunday, particularly in the central and northern areas of the state, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City. Some of these will linger into the evening in northern Utah.

The smoke lingering in the valleys from other states' wildfires will have mostly dissipated by Sunday, but the air quality still will not improve much. The Wasatch Front will have only moderate air quality Sunday and into the beginning of the work week. Box Elder, Cache and Tooele counties will also have moderate air on Sunday, but that upgrades to healthy on Monday, according to the Utah Division of Air Quality.

Salt Lake City can expect a high of 93 degrees both Sunday and Monday, while St. George will see highs of 100 degrees both days.
