Evanston, Wyo. • Heavily favored Stratagem held off Titus the Knight in the final strides Saturday to win the $16,600 Wyoming Downs Thoroughbred Futurity.

Coming off a five-length maiden victory at Arapahoe Park near Denver on July 6, Stratagem was sent off as the 6-to-5 favorite in the wagering.

Ridden by jockey Nathan Condie, Stratagem scored by a neck over 9-to-1 shot Titus the Knight to earn the winner's share of $7,553 for owner-trainer Gary Barrow.

Stratagem, an Oklahoma-bred filly, covered the five furlongs on a fast track in 57.55 seconds.
