Vernal police arrested a California man on Monday as part of a child-sex solicitation sting.

Police Lt. Keith Campbell said the 34-year-old Loomis, Calif., man was being held without bail in the Uintah County Jail on suspicion of traveling to the eastern Utah community to have sex with what he thought was a 12-year-old girl.

Over a period of several months, the man also allegedly sent pornographic materials over the Internet to the uncover police officer who posed as the girl.

"These communications included sending sexually explicit material over the internet, and arranging to meet the 12 year old in Vernal for sexual activity," Campbell said.
