• The Toronto International Film Festival has announced its first block of movies, and there are lots of stars going to Canada in September: Robert Downey Jr., Steve Carell, Denzel Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Winslet, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tina Fey and Jon Stewart. [Rolling Stone]
• The semi-finalist list is out for the Booker Prize, Britain's most prestigious publishing award, which for the first time is letting non-Commonwealth authors participate.
