Late last year, the LDS Church assigned the Salt Lake Bonneville Stake, among dozens of others, to design and construct a float for the 2014 Days of '47 Parade with the theme, "Pioneers Pushing Towards the Future."

Video producer Mike Stack was asked to document the process from design to finished product. Scores of artists, engineers, painters, and builders donated endless hours to build their entry. It features a giant rotating cherry pie, an old-fashioned grandma, whose rolling pin spins as well as modern children, listening to an iPod and eating cherry pie. On the back of the float is a list of ancestors of current church members in the east-side Salt Lake City LDS stake.
