A touch of luxury, no added charge says Brad Reynolds

A childhood spent creating masterpieces with legos could be a clear indication that building is in the blood. It was certainly the case with Brad Reynolds, who for the past 30 years has been dedicated to designing and building some of Utah's most beautiful homes.

"I just love the process of seeing something start from the ground up," the 56-year-old President of Brad Reynolds Construction said. "I've been fascinated with it since I was a kid."

This fascination led him to follow the lead of some family members who were already in home building, and today, Reynolds is one of Utah's most respected luxury-home builders.

While the creations Brad built his reputation on may be too luxe for the average homeowner - his most recent has a $20 Million price tag – those seeking the look and feel of a high end home, but at a more affordable price can also find exactly what they are looking for.

"In the last 10 years we have started to take our expertise from a very custom market to a more affordable product, but the quality of our less expensive product is also exceptional. It is very, very good," Reynolds said. "That's why most of our products sell out so quickly."

In addition to unique floor plans, Reynolds' customers can expect large windows, vaulted areas, top grade cabinets, two-toned paint, larger moldings and granite bathroom and kitchen countertops all offered as part of a standard package.

"Brad's competitors charge for all of that, and it would probably be another $15,000 to get what he gives his customers as standard," real estate agent Sandy Sullivan said.

Sullivan has worked with Reynolds for a decade and sells 100 to 150 homes each year.

"He's a very high end builder, one of the finest in Salt Lake," Sullivan said. "And because he builds such a quality product, it makes my job very easy, because the houses basically sell themselves."

In addition to quality finishes, another selling point is location, location, location!

"When you're dealing with real estate, location is key," Reynolds said. "And we always have great locations."

These include two and three bedroom, town homes starting at $199,500 in communities at Riverton, Midvale, Murray and Draper with easy access to ample shopping, entertainment, recreation, and of course, spectacular views.

"I love that I can just walk to the shops and the library, and I have quick and easy access to the freeway entrance, homeowner Chris Belchak said. "From my kitchen window I have a beautiful view of the Wasatch Mountain and it's wonderful seeing both the sun and moon rise over it."

But it's not just the finished product customers are happy with, they also often remark on the process - excellent, personalized customer service that includes carefully incorporating their respective wish lists into their budgets and keeping them informed at all stages.

"The building went up quickly and the process was easy," Belchak said. "I wanted a few changes made and they were very accommodating."

Easy access to the project manager, who responded quickly to any concerns she had, also helped make Chris' building experience pleasurable.

"I could always find Ben on the job site," she said. "I could go to check on the house and speak with him every day about it if I wanted, and that made me feel like I had some control over the whole process."

A commitment to excellence and integrity, it's the basis on which Brad founded his company in 1982, and this commitment continues to be at the core of the work he does today. Reynolds has certainly left his blue print on Salt Lake over the past 30 years, but at 56, he has no immediate plans of slowing down.

"This is what I do," he said. "And I absolutely love it! But when I do retire, if I'm remembered as someone who built beautiful, affordable, quality homes that stand the test of time, then I'll retire a very happy man."
