Utah forecast: Hot weekend followed by a cooler Monday

Highs in the 90s are expected over the weekend in northern Utah, followed by a cooler Monday.

The National Weather Service is predicting highs in the mid 90s in Salt Lake City and Provo on Saturday and in the low 90s on Sunday. The overnight lows should drop to the mid 60s to around 70.

The thermometer should reach the low to mid 90s both weekend days in Ogden and Logan, according to the weather service, and lows in the 60s are expected both nights. Park City will be slightly cooler, with highs in the upper 80s to about 90 and lows in the mid 50s.

There is a chance of rain in all those areas on Sunday during the day, with showers and thunderstorms likely after midnight.

Monday's highs are predicted to range from the mid 70s to about 80.

In St. George, highs will be in the upper 90s on Saturday and around 90 on Sunday, the weather service says. The chance of showers and thunderstorms is 40 percent on Saturday afternoon and 70 percent on Sunday afternoon.

More rain could fall Sunday night and Monday in St. George. The high Monday is expected to be around 90.
