Salt Lake City and Murray police are hunting for a dreadlocks wig-wearing gunman who held up two businesses within 90 minutes of each other Sunday night.

Salt Lake City police Detective Greg Wilkins said that while investigators have not "100 percent confirmed" the two robberies are related, "they are looking pretty similar."

The first holdup occurred at 8:58 p.m. Sunday when the suspect — a thin, facially pockmarked white man in his 20s, wearing long, black and fake dreadlocks — entered the Shell station at 502 E. 2100 South, brandished a handgun and demanded cash.

He was last seen on foot, running westbound with an unspecified amount of money.

About 10:15 p.m., a suspect of similar description — including the wig and handgun — hit a Carl's Jr. restaurant at 151 E. 5300 South in Murray.

Wilkins said the wig failed in concealing the suspect's true hair color. Witnesses could see blond hair under the wig.

SLCPD and Murray police are checking with other Utah law enforcement jurisdictions about similar robberies.
