A Texas-based company has acquired a small company with a Provo office that makes software for managing clients of home health and hospice agencies.

Kinnser Software of Austin has purchased Benesan Corp., which makes software called ADLware for managing the nonmedical needs of clients who are cared for in their home, the two companies said Tuesday.

ADLware helps caregivers manage patients needs such as getting them to appointments and ensuring they get meals on time.

Benesan was founded in 2007 by CEO Michael McAlpin, a graduate of Brigham Young University.

The company has its headquarters in San Clemente, Calif., where McAlpin lives, but the company opened a Provo office when it needed to expand. McAlpin said Utah business friendly the quality workforce in Utah County led him to open an office there.

The company has seven employees in Provo but is in the process of hiring eight more, McAlpin said. It has another six employees in California.

Kinnser Software provides software aimed at home health care and hospice providers and has about 170 employees in Austin.

"They're going to be growing into the Provo office as well," said McAlpin.

The financial aspects of the deal were not disclosed. Both companies are privately held.
