A 3-year-old girl nearly drowned Tuesday in the pond at Highland Glen Park in Utah County.

Rescuers were called to the swimming pond about 3:30 p.m., where the girl was unconscious, said Lone Peak Fire Chief Brad Freeman. Medics performed CPR, and the girl was conscious when she was flown to Primary Children's Hospital. Freeman said the child was in critical to serious condition.

Investigators did not yet know how the child got into the pond without being noticed until she was unconscious. She appeared to have been visiting the park with her parents.
