Police say an angry Salt Lake City man snapped an antenna off a car, but the only reception he ended up getting was from a jail booking officer.

About 10 a.m. Tuesday, the 39-year-old suspect was leaving a Post Office branch at 230 W. 200 South with another man and a woman. Witnesses said a fight suddenly erupted between the men, and the suspect grabbed the whip antenna from a nearby parked car and began chasing his foe.

Bystanders tried to intervene, but the suspect then used a broken bottle to hold them at bay.

Officers arrived and soon found themselves in a battle with the man that ended with him being shocked by a Taser three times before being handcuffed.

The suspect remained in Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday, where he was being held in lieu of $1,360 bail on suspicion of third-degree felony aggravated assault and class B misdemeanor criminal mischief.
