RSL adds Argentine attacker Sebastian Jaime

Real Salt Lake has signed Argentine attacker Sebastian Jaime, pending approval of a visa.The rumored move was announced by the striker's club and then confirmed by a source to the Salt Lake Tribune late Friday afternoon.RSL general manager Garth Lagerwey publicly confirmed the acquisition on the team's ESPN 700."We still have some hurdles to clear in terms of visa issues, but we have signed Jaime," he said. On the eve of the August transfer window closing Wednesday, Real Salt Lake is rumored to be in discussions for 27-year-old Argentinean forward Sebastian Jaime. The striker of Club Union Espanola has played in Chile's Primera Division since 2011. Canal del Futbol, a cable TV station in Chile — known as CDF — reported a probable impending move by RSL for Jaime. According to the report, Jaime's contract with Union Espanola ends this December. The report also states that Jaime has scored 39 goals in 124 matches with Union Espanola. According to Chilean publication El Grafico, Jaime did not train with Union Espanola Tuesday and that the forward's arrival to Major League Soccer is "imminent."

Jaime's visa issues are in the hands of the U.S. government, but Lagerwey and RSL are hopeful he will be available for selection in time for the Aug. 22 game against Dallas.On ESPN 700, Lagerwey said RSL scout and assistant coach Andy Williams had been tracking the striker since 2012."He's been on our list of top 3, top 5 forwards for a long time," Lagerwey said.
