Reshad Jones has become the second Miami Dolphins player this summer to run afoul of the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Jones, a starting strong safety, was suspended Friday for the first four games of the regular season. He said he took a supplement that caused the violation.
Defensive end Dion Jordan was suspended last month for the first four games after testing positive for a prohibited stimulant.
Like Jordan, Jones is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games. He will be eligible to return to the Dolphins' active roster following the team's Sept. 28 game against Oakland. The suspension is without pay.
Jones, a fifth-year pro, started every game the past two seasons.
No change with Jets' quarterback chart
There's no quarterback controversy for the New York Jets. Not even close. OK, well, not yet.
Geno Smith led the Jets to a field goal in his two series with the starters in a 13-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday. Michael Vick created a bit of a buzz by leading a touchdown drive with the first-team offense and showing he can still make plays with his legs.
While the Jets maintain the two are competing to be the starter, it has been clear it's Smith's job to lose.
Despite solid but unspectacular performances, coach Rex Ryan says he was "really pleased" with both Smith and Vick.
N.Y. governor weighs stadium for Bills
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he wants to do everything he can to keep the Buffalo Bills in New York and would consider a new stadium if necessary. Cuomo told reporters Friday in Niagara Falls the state and county negotiated a long-term lease with the Bills two years ago and have spent $170 million renovating the existing stadium.
Cuomo says, "If we need a new stadium to keep the Bills here long-term, that's something that I'm interested in talking about."
