Logan firefighters saved five reptiles from a burning home.
The occupants of the home, near 100 E. 300 South, reported smoke coming out of the attic about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Soon after firefighters arrived, flames broke through the roof, said Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys.
Everyone evacuated safely, while firefighters went in and rescued five expensive reptiles, including snakes and frogs, from the home, Humphreys said.
The fire was hard to extinguish because of a difficult-to-access attic, Humphreys said. About two hours later, the flames were finally extinguished.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire marshal estimates the damage to the home at $150,000.
The residents should eventually be able to move back in, though reconstruction will take a while, Humphreys said.
