Honolulu • The National Weather Service says Hurricane Julio continues to move away from Hawaii and will not pose a threat on the heels of a damaging tropical storm.

Meteorologist John Bravender says Julio is about 400 miles northeast of Honolulu. It has been downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, the lowest level. It is packing winds of about 90 miles per hour.

The forecast Sunday calls for the return of blue skies and sunshine for parts of the state.

Bravender says Julio is affecting trade winds that usually keep the islands cool, so hot, muggy weather is expected through the first half of the week.

Tropical Storm Iselle knocked out power and toppled trees on Hawaii's Big Island when it made landfall early Friday but largely spared the other islands. It was the first time in 22 years a tropical storm hit Hawaii.
