A letter by 14 senators urges President Barack Obama to designate 1.8 million acres in southeastern Utah as a new national monument, an idea that environmentalists embrace while Utah's congressional delegation and many rural leaders oppose.

On Tuesday at 12:15 p.m., San Juan County Commissioner Phil Lyman, Gov. Gary Herbert's spokesman Marty Carpenter, Utah Sierra Club's Mark Clemens and Tribune reporter Matt Canham join Jennifer Napier-Pearce to discuss the Greater Canyonlands National Monument proposal and what a compromise on protecting public land could look like.
