This week's Utah Crowd-Funding project will make you feel like a kid in a candy store.
Priscilla Briggs, of Salt Lake City, founded Designer Lollipop in 2011. The company makes edible image lollipops, which can be custom-made to include graphic images in candy form.
Since the company's founding, Briggs has worked for such clients as NASA, Warner Bros. and the Syfy channel. In February, the lollipops got an unexpected plug on "The View," when Whoopi Goldberg secretly bought a batch and introduced them on the show's Valentine's Day gift segment.
Now Briggs is trying to expand the company to meet the demand. The goal is to make 40 million lollipops in a year. That goal, however, takes a lot of money.
Briggs has taken to Kickstarter in an effort to raise $45,000 for new equipment a steam boiler and a wrapping machine and to upgrade the company's warehouse space.
So far, the campaign has raised $1,961. The deadline is Saturday, Aug. 23.
Benefits for backers range from a package of six lollipops (for $14) to a package deal that includes 1,150 lollipops and a tour of the factory (for $2,500).
