Utah National Guard fights 'unfriendly government' in Ephraim

Troops from the Utah National Guard parachuted into central Utah on Thursday for training.

The three-week exercise in and around the Manti La-Sal National Forest pretends an "unfriendly government" has occupied Sanpete County, according to Ephraim City Council minutes. The exercise began Aug. 2.

About 40 soldiers from the Utah National Guard's 19th Special Forces jumped Thursday near the Ephraim airport.
