Salt Lake City police are asking the public's help in making a rare-coin thief ante up to justice.

On Friday, police released both security camera images of the suspect and photographs of the stolen coins in hopes someone will recognize either the thief or the collector's currency.

The male suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, clean shaven and possibly with brown hair. He allegedly entered the All About Coins store at 1123 E. 2100 South about 10 a.m. on Aug. 1 and made off with the coins: a 1908 $20 gold piece, and a 2013 one-ounce gold buffalo piece.

Together, the coins are valued at $3,000.

The shop owner is offering an unspecified cash reward for information that helps solve this case.

Anyone who has information is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000, or anonymously text the keyword TIPSLCPD to 274637.
