A woman was severely injured Wednesday when her vehicle crossed the center line on a St. George street and hit two other vehicles — one head-on — causing lesser injuries to the other drivers.

The accident occurred at about 9:15 a.m. when a woman driving south on Dixie Drive in a blue SUV drifted into oncoming traffic neat Parkside Circle, according to St. George police.

The blue SUV sideswiped a red SUV which was traveling north on Dixie Drive, causing minor cuts and bruises to the woman in the red SUV, police said.

The blue SUV continued south and collided head-on with a red passenger vehicle which was traveling north on Dixie Drive.

The woman driving the red passenger car suffered minor non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the blue SUV suffered severe internal injuries.

Both drivers in the head-on crash were taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

Police said they were investigating why the driver of the blue SVU crossed the center line.
