Rich always ranks among Utah's top Class 1A football and basketball schools. But it's remote location in extreme northern Utah doesn't do it any favors.

Consider the Rebels' football schedule this year.

Rich plays only three home games. It must travel twice to Idaho. But those are relatively short trips compared to an eight-day span in September when the Rebels will travel 1,516 miles.

Pity poor Class 1A Rich. The Rebels have only three home games. In a span of eight days, they will drive 1,516 miles in a bus.

Rich plays at Milford on September 19, which is a 318-mile, 51/2-hour journey one way. The next week, the Rebels drive close to eight hours and 440 miles one-way to play at Monticello.

The good news for Rich is that perhaps its biggest regular season game of the year is at home. The Rebels host four-time defending champion Duchesne on October 10.

Rich is also one of the few schools that doesn't have a lighted football field. Considering how cold it can get in Randolph in October and November, that's problem not a bad thing.
