• The University of Utah Utes begin the college football season by hosting the Idaho State Bengals at Rice-Eccles Stadium, 451 S. 1400 East, U. of U. campus, Salt Lake City. The game starts at 5:30. Limited bleachers and standing-room seats remain, at the Utes' ticket website.

• The 2014 Twilight Concert Series concludes with Seattle indie-folk band The Head And The Heart, at Pioneer Park, 350 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City. Opening act: San Fermin. Show starts at 7; gates for Twilight Market open at 5. Tickets are $5, at the gates.

• Chart-topping pop star Kenny Loggins, known for such movie themes as "Footloose," "Danger Zone" (from "Top Gun") and "I'm All Right" (from "Caddyshack"), performs at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 S. State St., Orem. Show starts at 8. Tickets are $15-$35, at the SCERA website.

• Psychobilly rocker The Reverend Horton Heat performs at The Depot, 400 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Opening act: PiƱata Protest. Show starts at 9. Tickets are $21, at Smith's Tix.
