The Greek Orthodox Mission Parish of Utah met in its inaugural worship service Sunday.

The parish was voted into existence on Aug. 23 by more than 100 then-members of the Greater Salt Lake Parish — comprised of Prophet Elias church and Holy Trinity Cathedral — who were dissatisfied with the way a four-year dispute between the two congregations was settled.

The mission parish met Sunday at The Woods on Ninth, a reception center at 6775 S. 900 East in Midvale.

Father Jimi Foreso from St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church of Greenwood Village in Colorado, led the service.
