A Clearfield woman died Monday in a motorcycle crash on Weber County's northbound Trapper's Loop Road.

The 28-year-old woman apparently was catching up with a group of fellow motorcyclists at the time of the crash, said Weber County Sheriff's Sgt. Lane Findlay. Some witnesses reported that she "was traveling at a very high rate of speed," Findlay said.

At 12:13 p.m., she wound up losing control of her Yamaha bullet bike on a corner and crashed near mile marker 8.7, Findlay said. Though she had been wearing a helmet and riding jacket, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies are withholding the woman's name until they can notify her loved ones.

Investigators had to narrow Trapper's Loop Road to one lane for about two hours while they cleared the scene.
