A semi-trailer rig slammed into a barrier wall early Wednesday morning, spreading much of its load of broccoli across the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 about 15 miles west of Salt Lake City.
Moments after the 4 a.m. crash, an eastbound vehicle swerved to avoid hitting the semi and rolled. Utah Highway Patrol said the male driver, conscious and breathing, was transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No injuries were reported to the semi's driver.
The crash, investigation and subsequent cleanup closed down eastbound lanes of I-80 for about two hours.
