Posted: 9:21 PM- Voting is underway in Utah's presidential primary, as Salt Lake County opened its first early voting site at the county offices.

Voters can cast their ballots at the Salt Lake County clerk's office during business hours, now through Feb. 4. The official date for the primary is Feb. 5.

Eleven other early voting locations are scheduled to open next week and remain open until Feb. 1. Registered voters will get a postcard mailed to them with the location of the nearest polling place.

Applications to vote by mail are also on the Salt Lake County Clerk's Web site, at http://www.clerk.slco.org and can be submitted until Jan. 29.

"Voters do not need an excuse to utilize these convenient voting methods," said county clerk Sherrie Swensen.

The county is also seeking pollworkers for the Feb. 5 election. The pollworkers must attend a training session and be available to work from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on election day. They will receive between $120 and $220 depending on the job they perform.
