Posted: 3:12 PM- Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon can breathe easy: "Super Dell" Schanze has set his sights on a higher political office.

The former owner of Totally Awesome Computers has yanked his name from Salt Lake County's mayoral race and now plans to joust with Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. for the state's top job.

The Lieutenant Governor's Office confirmed Monday that Schanze has entered the governor's race as a Libertarian, leaving his county aspirations behind.

The move comes three days after Schanze - notorious for buzzing Interstate 15 in a paraglider and brandishing a firearm when confronted by angry neighbors over speeding in a Draper neighborhood - became the first Republican to challenge Corroon.

Schanze had spoken little of his reasons for running for office late Friday, only that he wants to fight for "liberty and justice for all."
