Missing person cases from the past 10 years

1. Nikole Kristina Bakoles, Midvale/Seattle

Nancie Bakoles of Renton, Wash., reported her daughter Nikole, then 20, missing on March 13, 2000. Nancie Bakoles last heard from Nikole, who was living in Utah, in October 1999. Nikole, who had a drug problem, was upset because child protective services had taken custody of her then 1-year-old daughter. Family found a Seattle arrest for Nikole in 2006, but has had no word from her.

2. Edd Dominic Lope, Washington City

Lope, 29 and a father of two boys, was last seen at 5:30 a.m. on June 21, 2005. Lope worked as a garage door installer. His white pickup truck, with the words "Overhead Door" on the sides, was found later on a dirt road about 15 miles from St. George, in Arizona.

3. Jeffrey Dale Nichols, Salt Lake City

Nichols, an air traffic controller at Salt Lake International Airport and father of one son, was 40 when he disappeared June 8, 2004. He was supposed to meet his then 7-year-old son and ex-wife at a McDonald's in Midvale but never arrived. His white 2000 Ford Ranger was towed from the block of 4800 S. State Street on July 17.

4. Douglas Perry Plummer, Taylorsville

Plummer was 21 when he disappeared Jan. 17, 2001. He was last seen at a sandwich shop in downtown Salt Lake City, where he worked. Plummer did not drive and relied on buses to get around. Police say he could have traveled to the Ephraim area.

5. Janis Marie Stavros, Millcreek

Stavros, 42 and a mother of two, was reportedly last seen at her home in the early morning of Jan. 3, 2001, by her boyfriend. The two had had dinner with Stavros' ex-husband and daughter the night before and left at 10 p.m. Stavros' new truck, puppy and cell phone were found at her home.

6. Aletha Jo Williams, Salt Lake City

Williams was 25 when she was last seen March 6, 2002, at the corner of 1700 South and West Temple in Salt Lake City. Williams, who was six months pregnant, had dropped off belongings at a relative's home and planned to return later.

7. Lark Mosher Montague, Magna

Montague was 55, married, a mother and grandmother, when she disappeared Sept. 22, 2007. She was last seen at 3 a.m., backing her husband's silver 2002 Chevy Trailblazer out of their driveway. Montague struggled with depression; she was the guardian of three grandchildren and another boy at the time she disappeared.

8. Ryan Steven Jensen, Erda

Jensen, a maintenance worker for the Granite School District, was 33 when he disappeared March 13, 2007, shortly after speaking to a relative on the telephone. Police found his keys in the back door of his home, which was open. Jensen had personal and financial problems. He left vehicles, horses and a cell phone behind; binoculars and a handgun were missing from the home.

Older cases of missing women

1. Bobbi Ann Campbell, Murray

Campbell was 24 when she disappeared Dec. 27, 1994. She was reported missing Jan. 7, 1995. Campbell left her then 5-year-old daughter Stephanie at a friend's home in Salt Lake City while she ran to pick up a paycheck and then go to the bank and grocery store. She never picked up the check. Police believe she was spotted months later in a park. Family found Campbell's car about nine months later parked in front of a home near the Jordan River at 200 S. 1100 West.

2. Mary Katherine Miller, Provo

Miller, a registered nurse and mother, was 46 when she disappeared June 20, 1979. She was reported missing July 5, 1979. Twelve days later, her Honda Civic was found along a dirt road near the Timpanooke Trail on Mt. Timpanogos in American Fork Canyon. Her purse and keys were in the car.

3. Rhonda Fae Karren, Vernal

Karren, 31, was last seen at 10:30 p.m. Sept. 28, 1987, when she dropped off a co-worker after attending a K-mart management meeting in Salt Lake City. She was supposed to open a Vernal K-mart store at 7:30 a.m. the next day but never showed up. Police found signs of a struggle at her home. Karren had marital trouble and was planning to divorce. Police took DNA samples from her husband in 2006 after finding what appeared to be human remains in a well the Karrens leased outside Vernal but no charges were filed.

4. Peggy Sue Case, Spanish Fork

Case, also known as Peggy Sue Ellsworth, was 27 when she disappeared July 9, 1988, after attending a party with her boyfriend. The two reportedly had been arguing. She worked at an Ensign-Bickford Co. explosives plant then located in Mapleton.

5. Sheree Warren, Roy

Warren was 44 and the mother of a 3-year-old boy when she disappeared Oct. 2, 1985. She was last seen at 6:30 p.m. in the parking lot at the Utah State Employees Credit Union in Salt Lake City, where she had spent the day in training. Her 1984 Toyota Corolla was found in Las Vegas at the Aladdin Hotel parking lot Nov. 11, 1985.

6. Ruth Jimenez, Sandy

Jimenez, who did not speak English, was 41 when she disappeared July 1, 1999, under what police termed as suspicious circumstances. Few details are available about the case, however.
