Accounting programs at Brigham Young University and the University of Utah are ranked among the top undergraduate and master's programs for business schools across the U.S.

The rankings come from the 29th annual survey of accounting professors published in Public Accounting Report newsletter.

BYU's Marriott School of Business finished third in the nation for its graduate programs and second for undergraduate courses. The U.'s David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah ranked 22nd in the nation's top 25 undergraduate accounting programs and 25th, in a tie with Miami University (Ohio), in the graduate accounting category.

The business school at the Provo campus has finished in the top three of both graduate and undergraduate accounting programs for 16 consecutive years.

"We're honored with the continued recognition of our top-flight accounting program," said Joseph Ogden, Marriott School assistant dean. "It says a lot about the performance of our students and graduates, as well as the faculty's focus on innovation in accounting."

U. business Dean Taylor Randall considers his school's ranking a "significant milestone" that "shows we can hold our heads high as one of the country's top business schools." The U. was not in the top 25 the previous year.

The nation's No. 1 school in four accounting rankings — undergraduate, graduate, doctorate-research, doctorate-teaching — is the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas-Austin.
