The Salt Lake Tribune won several awards in the 2011 Society of Professional Journalists (Utah) contests Saturday, including best newspaper in its division.

Tribune staffers swept all three places in a dozen categories:

The Roy B. Gibson Freedom of Information Award was presented to the "ordinary people" behind the SaveGRAMA initiative to repeal HB477.

The Quintus Wilson Ethics Award went to The Salt Lake Tribune's Heather May.

The Don Baker Investigative Reporting Award went to KSL-TV's John Daley and The Deseret News' Lisa Riley-Roche.

The Service to Journalism Award went to Linda Petersen, of the Utah Foundation for Open Government and the Valley Journals. 2011 Society of Professional Journalists contests
