The family and friends of a missing 30-year-old Utah man renewed their search efforts in Las Vegas on Friday evening, asking bus riders and homeless shelter residents if they had seen the man missing since Dec. 13.

As of Friday night, the search had not turned up any new clues in Steven Koecher's disappearance, but the search will continue this morning. Ten teams of paired-up searchers will continue to show posters to bus riders in the hopes someone has concrete information on Koecher's whereabouts.

Previous searches focused on finding Koecher's body because he has been missing for so long, but several vague reports of sightings have trickled in to police and family members. His Bountiful family wanted to explore the possibility he was injured and unable to recall his identity or was purposely living as a recluse.

The former Salt Lake Tribune employee was living in St. George at the time of his disappearance. The unemployed man reportedly told friends he was traveling to Henderson, Nev., in a bid to find a job.

On Dec. 13, a home security camera captured Koecher walking by, apparently not long after he had parked his car. After walking around a corner, crossing the street and walking out of the frame, Koecher went missing. His car was found abandoned in Henderson by police days later.

"There's just nothing that makes any sense about his disappearance," said his mother, Deanne Koecher, from a hotel in Henderson, where the volunteer searchers had set up a base camp. "All we can do is keep looking and keep hoping."
