A man looking for love online was instead robbed when he met with a woman on Valentine's Day.

The man met the woman on Craigslist and arranged to meet with her the night of Feb. 14 at the Atherton Park Apartments, located near 4500 South and 800 West, said Taylorsville police Detective Shannon Bennett.

But when the woman left the room to change her clothes, she returned with two men who threatened the man with a knife and a Taser. They robbed him of his cell phone, about $200 in cash and his car keys, then forced him to him to drive to a 7-Eleven at 4700 South and Redwood Road to withdraw money.

When he got to the convenience store, Bennett said, the man started yelling that he was being robbed. One of the men ran to the door to pursue him, but the man locked it. The clerks called police, and both men fled on foot. One 20-year-old man was later arrested. Police suspect men have gang ties.

Police will issue a warrant for the woman's arrest today, Bennett said.

Anyone with information about the robbery can call Taylorsville Police at 801-743-7000.

Bennett warned people who are involved with online dating to be careful and meet the person in a public place, not give out their home address, and stay alert.
