Robbie Russell, the seventh shooter in penalty kicks, blasted home the championship goal as Real Salt Lake defeated Los Angeles for the MLS Cup on Sunday night at Qwest Field.

RSL claimed the title with a 5-4 edge in penalty kicks, following a 1-1 tie after 120 minutes of soccer.

Robbie Findley scored RSL's regulation goal in the 64th minute, after Mike Magee had scored for Los Angeles in the 41st minute.

In the penalty kicks, fifth shooter Andy Williams could have won the game for RSL, but goalkeeper Josh Saunders stopped his shot. The contest went to the seventh kicker, and Russell delivered for RSL after goalkeeper Nick Rimando stopped Edson Buddle's attempt for the Galaxy.
