Wrapping up how Utah's players on active NFL rosters performed in Week Eight:

Minnesota running back Matt Asiata • Asiata had four catches for 26 yards and four carries for 1 yard in the Vikings' 19-13 overtime victory against the Bucs. Asiata relieved starter Jerick McKinnon in the fourth quarter, writes the Pioneer Press. Earlier this week, ESPN 1500 wrote that Asiata is the better back in pass protection.

Oakland guard Tony Bergstrom • Bergstrom was ruled inactive for a 23-13 loss to the Browns, who employ brother-in-law Paul Kruger. He has not played this season.

Cleveland outside linebacker Paul Kruger • Hampered by a bad back, Kruger went three games without recording a sack. Sunday, he had three, adding a pass deflection and two QB hits. His five sacks gives him more than he had in his first season with the Browns (4.5), and the Cleveland Plain-Dealer writes that Kruger is emerging as a leader for the defense.

Carolina defensive tackle Star Lotulelei • The defense did its part, but Lotulelei's Panthers fell 13-9 to the Seahawks, while Lotulelei finished with two tackles, including one on Marshawn Lynch for a loss, and one tipped Russell Wilson pass. Before the game, Lotulelei talked to ESPN about the need for Carolina's defense to return to last year's form.

Pittsburgh cornerback Brice McCain • McCain recorded two tackles on a bad night for cornerbacks, as the Steelers beat the Colts 51-34 and teams combined for 907 yards through the air.

Oakland cornerback Keith McGill • McGill did not play due to a groin injury.

Miami linebacker Koa Misi • Misi returned from a left ankle injury to record 15 tackles in two games, but he was back on the sidelines Sunday. Jason Trusnik started in his place, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

San Diego defensive tackle Tenny Palepoi • Palepoi made one stop in the Chargers' 35-21 loss to the Broncos on Thursday night. Saturday, he was on the sidelines to cheer on the Utes against USC.

New York Jets outside linebacker Trevor Reilly • Reilly was listed as inactive due to a knee injury in the Jets' 43-23 loss to the Bills.

Miami defensive end Derrick Shelby • Shelby tallied two tackles in the Fins' win.

New England defensive tackle Sealver Siliga • Siliga was placed on the short-term injured reserve and will not be eligible for two more weeks.

Kansas City cornerback Sean Smith • Smith had one tackle and one pass deflection in the Chiefs' 34-7 romp of the Rams.

Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith • Smith completed 24 of 28 passes for 226 yards, his lone serious mistake being the loss of a fumble. Utah's 2014 commencement speaker is connecting on 66.8 percent of his passes this season, the second-best mark of his career (he completed 70.2 percent in 2012). The Kansas City Star examines his precision.

Baltimore wideout Steve Smith Sr. • It was a rare off-day for Smith and the 5-3 Ravens, who lost 27-24 to the Bengals. It almost wasn't, though. Smith was flagged for offensive pass interference on what otherwise would have been an 80-yard, game-winning touchdown catch. He's not dwelling on that, he told Baltimore Ravens dot com, because it shouldn't have come down to that. Smith otherwise caught just three passes for 35 yards despite being targeted nine times.

Atlanta defensive tackle Paul Soliai • Soliai had two tackles, and one for a loss in the Falcons' 22-21 loss to the Lions. He reportedly left the game early with a neck injury.

San Diego safety Eric Weddle • Weddle made 11 stops, his second straight double-digit total, and would have had a one-handed, end-zone interception of Peyton Manning were it not for a holding penalty on teammate Marcus Gilchrist.
