The race to Christmas has begun on Salt Lake City's radio dial.

KSQN-FM in Coalville — which goes by its nickname Sunny 103.1 on Wasatch Front airwaves — kicked off two months of holiday music in the late hours of Halloween night on Friday, switching from its regular format of pop music from the '70s to now.

The move is getting mixed reviews on the station's Facebook page. Some commenters vow never to listen to the station again because it has switched so early to Christmas music.

Sunny 103.1 is aiming to break off a chunk of the enduring popularity of KSFI-FM, a k a FM100, which is expected to flip the switch on its Christmas repertoire in the next few weeks.
