Three businesses were destroyed in an industrial fire that was burning late Tuesday in Kearns.
The fire broke out about 9 p.m. at a warehouse-style building near 5180 W. 4900 South, in an industrial complex, said Unified Fire Authority Battalion Chief Brian Anderton. The building housed a cabinet shop and two wood pallet repair businesses.
"Basically, we've got a warehouse full of stuff that loves to burn," Anderton said. Firefighters arrived to find that chemicals in the cabinet shop were exploding, Anderton said. Crews are fighting the fire defensively from the outside, as they cannot enter the building. The warehouse is near several other industrial building, but as of 11 p.m. crews believed the fire was contained, Anderton said.
The warehouse, which Anderton estimated to be about 60 feet by 150 feet, is expected to be a total loss.
