Utah added a little star power to its student assistant staff Friday, with longtime New York Jets defensive lineman Sione Pouha returning to coach at his alma mater.

Pouha, an all-conference player during three seasons that culminated with an undefeated season and a 2005 Fiesta Bowl victory, went on to play eight years in the NFL.

Pouha joins a staff that includes former teammates Morgan Scalley and Lewis Powell.

He will coach on the defensive side of the ball while he completes his undergraduate degree.

Wanna welcome my bro Sione Pouha to the Utah Football Family! He's joining the staff as a GA. #PolyU pic.twitter.com/Sq87vhY0Fs

Clarification: An earlier version of this blog mistakenly said that Pouha was a graduate assistant. My apologies.
