The Larry H. Miller family is restructuring the top management of its companies but Gail Miller is maintaining ownership and control, a spokeswoman said Monday.
The Miller family will appoint an outside board of directors but will have the final say over top-level matters through a board of trustees, said Linda Luchetti, executive vice president of communications.
The Larry H. Miller Group of Companies includes six enterprise areas that are each run by a president, who makes day-to-day decisions. Those presidents all will now report to Miller Management Corp. President Clark Whitworth, who will report to the board, Luchetti said.
"Gail still owns the company," she said. The family "will still run the company but from a 10,000-foot level."
Larry H. Miller has 80 companies across the country. Its 56 auto dealerships in seven Western states make it the 10th largest dealership group in the nation in terms of vehicles sold, according to Automotive News. Other holdings include 193 screens in 18 locations owned by its Megaplex Theatres company.
Together, the companies employ about 10,000 people nationwide, with about 6,500 of those in Utah.
