Utah Highway Patrol troopers made nearly 3,300 traffic stops, wrote more than 2,400 tickets and arrested 44 motorists on suspicion of driving intoxicated over the Easter weekend.
UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said that, generally, those statistics made this year's version of the spring holiday enforcement campaign a success, with just one alcohol-related fatality recorded.
"Usually, the number of those fatalities is a few more on Easter weekends," he said Tuesday. "Still, we do have areas of concern. We also had three serious injury crashes where alcohol appeared to have been involved."
Troopers made 3,274 traffic stops, issued 2,310 speeding tickets, cited 120 more for not wearing seat belts and responded to 87 accidents over the period.
The one alcohol-related fatality involved a 29-year-old Fort Duchesne man, killed when his van rolled on Highway 40 Sunday night.
Specific statistical comparisons to 2014 for Easter weekend were not immediately available, UHP said.
