A South Dakota woman died Monday near Moab when an all-terrain vehicle rolled, according to a Grand County Sheriff's Office report.
Karen Johnson, of Millbank, S.D., was riding the Hell's Revenge Trail when she tried climbing an obstacle known as the "Hot Tubs" and the ATV rolled, an incident report posted on the sheriff's office website states.
Johnson, 63, was not wearing a helmet and was critically injured. A helicopter flew her to Moab Regional Hospital, where she later died, the report states.
The Hell's Revenge Trail is in the Sand Flats Recreation Area just east of Moab and is one of the most popular four-wheel drive area in the region. Johnson was riding with a private group, and was not part of a professional tour, the report states.
Johnson's death was the third fatal Moab-area ATV accident in recent days.
On March 21, Jason Mondragon, 31, of Arvada, Colo., died after driving an ATV over a 65-foot cliff in the White Wash Sand Dunes area about 50 miles northwest of Moab.
And on Saturday, Christopher Hower, 30, of Ely, Nev., died about 15 miles south of Moab in San Juan County when an off-road vehicle went over a jump and landed on Hower.
