Orem • Something needed to give. Enterprise entered Thursday's quarterfinal matchup against Gunnison as the top-scoring squad in the 2A classification at slightly less than 12 runs per game.

But the Bulldogs featured one of the top arms consistently this season as Drew Hill, posted an overall record of 10-1 on the dirt.

Could the Wolves produce the same gaudy numbers?

The question was answered with a profound yes. After a shaky start on defense, Enterprise tacked seven runs onto the board in the bottom of the first inning en route to a dominant 13-5 victory at Brent Brown Ballpark.

"It's kind of something we've done all year long," Enterprise coach Kyle Bundy said. "I didn't quite expect that many [runs in the first], but they've done it all year long. We seem to get down, but they don't get flustered."

Enterprise (22-3) will play Manti (20-4) in the semifinals at 2:30 p.m. on Friday on the campus of Utah Valley University. The Wolves have now won 22 of their past 23 games after beginning the season with two straight losses.

"After watching [the Templars on Thursday] morning, which is the first time I've seen them, they hit the ball really well," Bundy said. "Right now, it's anybody's ballgame. I think we've got a few starters we haven't used yet; I think we're in pretty good shape."

After striking out the first two Gunnison batters, Wolves pitcher Chandler Bowler struggled to finish the first inning. He coughed up two straight hits to Drayson Pickett and Morgan Harris, then proceeded to bean consecutive batters before balking in a second run.

Bowler finished with nine strikeouts in six innings of work once he found his rhythm. He cooled his nerves in the bottom half of the first inning.

Brandell Shumway started the run party with an RBI double. Two batters later, Kelton Hunt hit a two-run single for a Wolves lead they would not relinquish. Hunt would finish with four RBIs. Quade Jones posted another RBI single in the ensuing at-bat. Adding insult to injury, Bradlee Clegg's deep fly was mishandled by Gunnison's outfielder, leading to three more unearned runs.
